McGill Method Assessment for Low Back Pain

The McGill Method was developed by world-renowned spine biomechanist, Dr. Stuart McGill.  In 2020 he was awarded the "New Order of Canada" for his contributions to the understanding of the biomechanics of the spinal column and for his development of evidence-based rehabilitation programs for low back disorders.

As a former professor at the University of Waterloo in Canada, Dr. McGill consolidated 35 years of scientific research into a rigorous certification program for individuals in the health care industry.

WHAT IS THE McGill METHOD?

The most common low back pain treatments do not address and resolve the source of the pain behind your symptoms. If the cause of your low back pain is not properly identified, the treatment will be ineffective and the cycle of pain continues. The McGill Method is a scientific-based program that incorporates a highly detailed assessment to reveal the motions, postures and loads that are the root cause of your pain.  You are then coached on how to remove those causes, and eliminate the pain.

PATIENCE, DEDICATION AND CONSISTENCY

The McGill Method is not a passive treatment program. You must have the desire to understand why you have low back pain and you must be willing to put forth the effort required to remove the cause and build resilience.  The McGill Method Candidate is looking for a long-term solution to their back pain.  They must adopt a mindset of: patience, dedication and consistency.
